Carlsbad Caverns are located in the Chihuahuan Desert of southern New Mexico, within the Carlsbad Caverns National Park. There are more than 100 caves. The Natural Entrance is a path into the namesake Carlsbad Cavern. Stalactites cling to the roof of the Big Room, a huge underground chamber in the cavern.

But just as advances in medicine have often been propelled by war, knowledge about the world has been a byproduct of profit-seeking. Likewise, heroism.

Planet Dinosaur is sure to please budding paleontologists and older dinosaur fans alike. Narrated by John Hurt, more than 50 different prehistoric species featured in this series and they and their environments were created entirely as computer-generated images. The first episode is 95 million years ago, Late Cretaceous in North Africa. We will see Ouranosaurus, Spinosaurus, Onchopristis (a giant sawfish), Rugops, Carcharodontosaurus, Sarcosuchus, pterosaur.

Meanwhile, paleopathologist Professor Alice Roberts travels the globe meeting top scientists and gaining exclusive access to a mass fossil graveyard in New Jersey - believed to date from the same time the asteroid hit. Alice also treks by horseback across the remote plains of Patagonia, to see if the effects of the asteroid impact could have wiped out dinosaurs across the world - almost immediately.
