In these three episodes, we'll see how life on the farm becomes more ambitious, more expensive, and much more unpredictable. A major new arrival promises to transform the future of the business, while unexpected births bring fresh challenges and moments of joy among the animals. As the livestock move out to pasture and new technology is introduced to improve daily operations, every success seems to be matched by a new obstacle. What begins as a season of optimism soon becomes a race against time, budgets, and the realities of modern farming. Meanwhile, Jeremy takes a crucial step into the cattle trade and discovers that turning farm produce into a profitable venture is far more complicated than expected. His long search for a pub finally appears to be reaching a breakthrough, but expert advice reveals a daunting list of costs, regulations, and risks that threaten to derail the entire project. With major financial decisions looming and pressure mounting from every direction, the dream of building something bigger than a farm hangs in the balance.
From the first shots fired in Poland to the dawn of the atomic age, this gripping documentary revisits the most devastating conflict in modern history with the scale, urgency, and human focus it demands. Through decisive battles, world-changing leaders such as Winston Churchill, Franklin D. Roosevelt and Josef Stalin rare wartime perspectives, and the immense suffering of soldiers and civilians, it shows how total war reshaped nations, destroyed millions of lives, and forced humanity into a new and terrifying era. The first three episodes plunge directly into the war’s explosive beginnings. In September 1939, Germany invades Poland after a secret pact between Adolf Hitler and Josef Stalin clears the path for aggression, setting Europe on fire once again. As Nazi forces crush the Netherlands and Belgium and drive west, Churchill prepares Britain for an air assault while Roosevelt races to turn American industry into a weapon of survival. The story then moves to Operation Barbarossa, Hitler’s colossal surprise invasion of the Soviet Union in 1941, the largest and most costly land offensive ever launched, where ambition, brutality, and resistance collide on an unimaginable scale.
In episodes 7 and 8, we see how World War II descends into one of the darkest chapters in human history while the Allies prepare to strike back for the first time on a new front. As Hitler’s power spreads across Europe, Nazi hatred turns persecution into policy, pushing Jewish families from discrimination and public humiliation into ghettos, deportations, mass murder, and the horror that will become known as the Holocaust. The war is no longer only a struggle for territory, armies, and empires; it becomes a confrontation with an ideology built on cruelty, fear, and the destruction of an entire people. The story then shifts to North Africa, where the Western Allies must prove they can fight Germany on land. In Operation Torch, inexperienced American troops and their untested commander, Dwight D. Eisenhower, join British forces in a dangerous gamble against the battle-hardened Afrika Korps and the legendary Erwin Rommel. Across deserts, ports, and unforgiving battlefields, the campaign becomes a harsh lesson in modern war, exposing Allied weaknesses while opening the road toward Europe. These two episodes combine moral catastrophe and military turning point, showing both the depths of Nazi evil and the first difficult steps toward its defeat.
In episodes 5 and 6, Ragnar’s rise becomes a mortal threat to Earl Haraldson, as prophecy, fear and ambition turn Kattegat into the center of a brutal struggle for power. After the Seer warns that Ragnar seeks his death, Haraldson moves from suspicion to violence, attacking Ragnar’s home and torturing Rollo in an attempt to destroy the challenger before he can grow stronger. Wounded, hunted and betrayed, Ragnar must decide whether survival is enough, or whether the time has come to confront the man who has ruled his people through fear. The conflict explodes into a direct challenge that will decide the future of Kattegat. Still weakened but driven by destiny, Ragnar faces the Earl in a duel where honor, vengeance and leadership are at stake. What follows is not only a fight between two men, but the collapse of an old order and the birth of a new one. With funerals, rituals, loyalty and sacrifice surrounding the change of power, these episodes reveal the dark beauty of Viking tradition and the moment when Ragnar Lothbrok’s legend truly begins to rise.
In the next three episodes of Season 2, Ragnar’s ambitions in England collide with a devastating crisis at home. His first face-to-face encounter with King Ecbert reveals two formidable leaders who recognize something of themselves in each other and begin to imagine possibilities beyond endless bloodshed. But while Ragnar negotiates in Wessex, Jarl Borg has seized Kattegat and driven his family into hiding. Ragnar abandons England and races home, where an unexpected reunion changes everything: Lagertha and Bjorn return with warriors of their own, joining Ragnar and Rollo in a desperate battle to reclaim Kattegat and settle an increasingly personal score. Victory, however, only creates new dangers. Athelstan survives a terrifying ordeal in Wessex and finds himself drawn into the confidence of the intellectually curious King Ecbert, forcing him to confront once again the conflict between his Christian faith and the Viking world that has transformed him. Lagertha must return to a brutal marriage, Bjorn begins to choose his own path, and King Horik arrives with a proposal Ragnar can barely accept: Jarl Borg may be needed as an ally for another invasion of England. Ragnar appears willing to put vengeance aside—but beneath the feasts, negotiations and promises of reconciliation, a merciless trap is closing. Loyalty, faith and family are tested as Ragnar proves that forgiveness and revenge can sometimes wear exactly the same face.
In episodes 7 and 8 of Season 2, rivalries harden and new alliances begin to reshape the balance of power on both sides of the sea. Ragnar and King Horik clash over the fate of Jarl Borg and over who should control their next expedition to England. While Horik argues that they still need Borg’s ships and warriors, Ragnar finds an unexpected new ally in Lagertha, now commanding warriors of her own. With that obstacle removed, Ragnar carries out one of the most terrifying punishments in Viking tradition: the blood eagle. At the same time, King Ecbert welcomes King Aelle to Wessex and seals an alliance between their kingdoms through marriage, preparing England for the Vikings’ inevitable return. The tension only increases when Aslaug’s dark prophecy appears to come true with the birth of Ragnar’s son Ivar, while the Viking fleet once again sails for Wessex. Ragnar wants negotiation and sees the possibility of something more lasting than simple plunder, but Horik is driven by revenge and increasingly resents Ragnar’s independence. Ecbert, meanwhile, prepares both for peace and war, using Athelstan as a link to the man he knows is unlike any other Viking leader. When Ragnar discovers that Athelstan is still alive and Ecbert offers talks under safe conduct, the possibility of a historic agreement suddenly emerges—but distrust, ambition and bloodshed threaten to destroy it before it can even begin.
