Out of the Darkness

       History
The third assault on the tattered remains of Roman civilization came from even further North, where the melting glacial ice had created immense sheltered fjords, leaving its inhabitants little choice but the sea. These fearless navigators understood that dominion over the oceans was the key to their ambitions.
Where the Romans expanded incrementally, the Vikings adopted a bolder, more aggressive approach. So was it the Dark Age which failed Europe, or the stifling uniformity of the great Roman experiment? Were the lost tribes more victim than failure? Richard Rudgley will hope to shed new light on the real secrets of the so-called Dark Age.

Vikings Season 1 Ep 1-2

   2013    History    HD
Set in a brutal, mysterious and dangerous world of warriors, gods and ambition, this first season follows Ragnar Lothbrok, a Viking farmer and fighter who refuses to accept the limits imposed by tradition. While others look east for poor and familiar lands, Ragnar dreams of sailing west across the ocean, convinced that richer kingdoms lie beyond the horizon. His hunger for discovery, glory and freedom puts him on a collision course with the old powers of his society, turning one man’s vision into the beginning of a legend that could change the Viking world forever.
In the first two episodes, Ragnar begins his son Bjorn’s passage into manhood while secretly preparing for a far greater initiation of his own: a forbidden voyage into the unknown. With the help of Floki’s new ship and a small crew willing to risk death, disgrace and the wrath of Earl Haraldson, he chooses to break the law rather than bury his dream. As family loyalty, political fear and ancient belief collide in Kattegat, the stage is set for the first journey west, where the promise of treasure is matched only by the danger of challenging everything his people think they know.

Vikings Season 1 Ep 3-4

   2013    History    HD
In episodes 3 and 4, Ragnar returns from England with treasure, prisoners and the first proof that his forbidden dream was not madness, but the beginning of a new world of opportunity. Yet victory quickly turns dangerous when Earl Haraldson seizes the riches for himself and forces each man to choose only one reward. Ragnar’s choice is not gold, but Brother Athelstan, a captured monk whose knowledge of England may prove more valuable than any silver. As celebration gives way to suspicion, the raid becomes a threat to the old order, and Ragnar’s growing fame starts to look like a direct challenge to the Earl’s power.
With permission now granted to sail west again, Ragnar and his crew return to England in search of greater wealth, deeper secrets and more dangerous enemies. But every success abroad increases the danger waiting at home. In Kattegat, Haraldson turns against Ragnar, accusing him of murder and dragging him before the law in a trial that becomes a battle for loyalty, honor and survival. Between Saxon lands, Viking ambition and the politics of a ruthless chieftain, these episodes turn exploration into open conflict and show how Ragnar’s legend begins to threaten everyone who stands above him.

Vikings Season 1 Ep 5-6

   2013    History    HD
In episodes 5 and 6, Ragnar’s rise becomes a mortal threat to Earl Haraldson, as prophecy, fear and ambition turn Kattegat into the center of a brutal struggle for power. After the Seer warns that Ragnar seeks his death, Haraldson moves from suspicion to violence, attacking Ragnar’s home and torturing Rollo in an attempt to destroy the challenger before he can grow stronger. Wounded, hunted and betrayed, Ragnar must decide whether survival is enough, or whether the time has come to confront the man who has ruled his people through fear.
The conflict explodes into a direct challenge that will decide the future of Kattegat. Still weakened but driven by destiny, Ragnar faces the Earl in a duel where honor, vengeance and leadership are at stake. What follows is not only a fight between two men, but the collapse of an old order and the birth of a new one. With funerals, rituals, loyalty and sacrifice surrounding the change of power, these episodes reveal the dark beauty of Viking tradition and the moment when Ragnar Lothbrok’s legend truly begins to rise.

Vikings Season 2 Ep 1-3

   2014    History    HD
In the first three episodes of Season 2, Ragnar Lothbrok is thrust into a brutal conflict that threatens both his family and his ambitions. Fighting alongside King Horik against Jarl Borg, he is forced to confront the ultimate betrayal when his own brother Rollo stands on the opposite side of the battlefield. But victory brings little peace. Ragnar is Earl and prepares a new expedition to England. A violent storm scatters the Viking fleet and drives the survivors onto the shores of Wessex, where they encounter a formidable new ruler, King Ecbert. Raids, ambushes and bloody clashes mark the beginning of a dangerous struggle for power, while Athelstan’s knowledge of England becomes increasingly valuable. Yet the greatest threat may be waiting at home: as Ragnar pushes deeper into Wessex, the embittered Jarl Borg turns his attention towards Kattegat. These opening episodes launch the season with brother against brother, Viking against Saxon, and ambition, loyalty and revenge threatening to tear Ragnar’s world apart.

Vikings Season 2 Ep 4-6

   2014    History    HD
In the next three episodes of Season 2, Ragnar’s ambitions in England collide with a devastating crisis at home. His first face-to-face encounter with King Ecbert reveals two formidable leaders who recognize something of themselves in each other and begin to imagine possibilities beyond endless bloodshed. But while Ragnar negotiates in Wessex, Jarl Borg has seized Kattegat and driven his family into hiding. Ragnar abandons England and races home, where an unexpected reunion changes everything: Lagertha and Bjorn return with warriors of their own, joining Ragnar and Rollo in a desperate battle to reclaim Kattegat and settle an increasingly personal score.
Victory, however, only creates new dangers. Athelstan survives a terrifying ordeal in Wessex and finds himself drawn into the confidence of the intellectually curious King Ecbert, forcing him to confront once again the conflict between his Christian faith and the Viking world that has transformed him. Lagertha must return to a brutal marriage, Bjorn begins to choose his own path, and King Horik arrives with a proposal Ragnar can barely accept: Jarl Borg may be needed as an ally for another invasion of England. Ragnar appears willing to put vengeance aside—but beneath the feasts, negotiations and promises of reconciliation, a merciless trap is closing. Loyalty, faith and family are tested as Ragnar proves that forgiveness and revenge can sometimes wear exactly the same face.
